MRT-3 to maintain extended weekday operations indefinitely

Following positive feedback from the public and the directive of Department of Transportation - Philippines (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon, the MRT-3 will maintain its extended weekday operations indefinitely—providing more comfort and giving back time to commuters and passengers.

This, after the policy has successfully completed a two-week pilot test, during which 61,004 passengers were served in the additional operating hour.

A total of 29,530 passengers were served from March 24 to March 28, and 31,474 passengers from March 31 to April 4.

In addition to extending its operating hours indefinitely, the MRT-3 will also continue to deploy an additional train set in the revenue to improve rush hour travel.

Both initiatives are aimed at catering to the needs of more passengers, especially workers whose jobs are scheduled in the evening.

The last train trips during weekdays will remain extended by one hour—from 9:30 PM to 10:30 PM at North Avenue Station, and from 10:09 PM to 11:09 PM at Taft Avenue Station.

Better Transportation for the Greater Tomorrow

For years now, rapid growth of commuters and vehicles population have plagued Metro Manila, the center of Philippine socio-economic and political activity.
