MRT-3 personnel recently participated in a workshop-seminar focused on the Harmonized Gender and Development Guidelines (HGDG). The HGDG is designed to ensure that gender and development (GAD) perspectives and concerns are integrated into all programs and projects of an institution.
Developed by the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW), and the Official Development Assistance Gender and Development Network (ODA-GAD Network), the HGDG ensures that programs and projects are gender-responsive at various stages of their project cycle.
Atty. Mylen B. Gonzales-Esquivel, a GAD Consultant and member of the GAD resource pool of PCW, facilitated the workshop. Participants included the GAD focal person and technical working group, division heads, training officers, and other personnel. They were trained to identify areas requiring intervention and to develop possible GAD strategies to address these areas.
“These initiatives are part of our broader campaign to promote inclusiveness in our operations and service delivery. We recognize the importance of integrating these approaches into our programs and projects to ensure adherence to gender sensitivity guidelines in our internal policies and our services to the riding public,” said General Manager Oscar B. Bongon.
The MRT-3 GAD Committee organized the workshop-seminar.
