MRT-3 logs 135 million riders in 2024

The Metro Rail Transit-Line 3 (MRT-3) achieved a remarkable milestone in 2024, serving 135,885,336 passengers--a 5.3% increase from the previous year's 129,030,158. This accomplishment underscores our dedication to providing efficient and reliable transportation for Metro Manila.

MRT-3 General Manager (GM) Oscar B. Bongon attributes this success to the continuous maintenance and operational improvements following the line's major rehabilitation in 2021.

"In 2024, as the MRT-3 celebrated its silver anniversary, the line remained a trusted choice for passengers in Metro Manila," GM Bongon remarked.

He emphasized the effectiveness of the line's maintenance program in ensuring a consistent travel time of 30 minutes from North Avenue Station to Taft Avenue Station.

The headway, or interval between trains, was also successfully maintained at 3.5 to 4 minutes during peak hours with 18 trains in operation.

This commitment to operational excellence resulted in a 5.1% increase in average daily ridership, reaching 375,474 passengers in 2024. October emerged as the busiest month with 12,030,245 passengers, closely followed by August (11,683,519) and January (11,646,983).

MRT-3 also proudly provided free rides to 938,412 passengers through various programs, including the Libreng Sakay program offered by the Office of the President on December 20. This day also recorded the highest single-day ridership, with 469,930 passengers.

Better Transportation for the Greater Tomorrow

For years now, rapid growth of commuters and vehicles population have plagued Metro Manila, the center of Philippine socio-economic and political activity.
