The Department of Transportation Assistant Secretary for Railways and MRT-3 Officer-in-Charge Jorjette B. Aquino met with the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), Office for Transportation Security (OTS), and the Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation (SAICT), to discuss the mobilization of uniformed personnel in the Rail Sector in Metro Manila.
Earlier this month, Asec. Aquino requested for police provisions in the rail sector to bolster security.
During the meeting joined by LRTA Administrator Atty. Hernando Cabrera, the representatives agreed to increase police visibility along Metro Manila lines, to complement the existing security in the LRT and MRT systems.
The NCRPO, led by Chief Regional Operations Division PCol Roman C. Arugay and Regional Mobile Force Battalion PCol Celso Rodriguez, committed to deploy additional personnel in MRT-3, LRT-1, and LRT-2 to deter criminal acts both inside trains and stations and ensure the well-being of passengers.
With the current low crime rate within the rail system, the additional police visibility will continue to make our rail lines safe for our commuters and will further strengthen the confidence in our rail system.
