Taguig City, Philippines — The Department of Transportation–Metro Rail Line 3 (DOTr-MRT3) received the Digital Breakthrough Growth Award at the Digital Excellence Awards 2025 held at Grand Hyatt Manila on February 19, 2026.

The award, given by one of the Philippines’ leading mobile payment app, recognizes government institutions that demonstrate measurable success in digitalization within a year of implementation.

DOTr-MRT3 was cited for its swift rollout of a cashless payment option in July 2025, in partnership with GCash, improving commuter convenience and accessibility.

With the initiative, DOTr-MRT3 became the first rail line in Metro Manila to implement a cashless payment system, marking a key milestone in modernizing public transport.

The recognition highlights the agency’s continued commitment to advancing the national government’s digitalization agenda and enhancing service for the riding public.
